Wow! That's all that comes to my mind when I think about the night of August 15th, 2011. I was laying in bed watching the Twins game when Jim Thome hit 599. I was like, wow, that made can hit those far! I was pretty excited and I told a friend of mine, He is gonna do it tonight. Sure enough the very next inning & next at-bat.
Jim Thome crushed the ball to left-center. Number 600.
At this point, I had no idea what to think, I never got to watch Bert Blyleven reach 3,000 strikeouts. I never got to see the magic of Kirby Puckett. I never got to see Harmon Killebrew crush home runs and I never witnessed Rod Carew win batting titles. I saw Jim Thome hit his 600th home run! Which is a pretty special moment for me. After watching the little celebration at home plate, I was going to go downstairs to see if my dad was watching, but before I knew it he was at the bottom of the stairs screaming, "HE DID IT! ARE YOU EXCITED?" I always said I was going to cry, but I didn't....at that moment anyway.
When they came back from the break and showed it again, it hit me! Jim Thome! Legend! He is incredible. Then came the post game interview and the press conference! Of course, Jim Thome being the man he is thanks everyone and was glad they got the win. Pretty cool!

Jim Thome is an incredible man and a true professional! Congrats on this incredible accomplishment. I'm glad he decided to stay in Minnesota so I could see this incredible milestone! I can't wait to see your HOF speech Jim! I will always remember, "If you dream big, dreams CAN come true" -Jim Thome.
